As a consumer you have certain rights, these rights mainly entitle you to receive correct information about your purchases and to demand goods or services that have a satisfactory quality and are safe for your health. Your rights as a consumer are protected with Consumer Protection Act and in case it should be necessary Estonian Consumer Protection Board will give you information and assistance to help you protect your rights.
Ask about the guarantee conditions for industrial products. You have the right to present pretensions to the vendor about industrial products within 2 years after the purchase. Generally it is considered, that defects that appear within six month after the purchase were there already at the time of the purchase, so the vendor has the obligation to prove how these defects occurred. Later you have the obligation to prove that these are production and not usage mistakes. You have the right to demand repairing of production mistakes at first and in case this does not work out, the product should be replaced. Checks are necessary for making complaints, so keep the one’s for more important purchases.
You cannot return purchases that have no defects. The vendor may exchange one thing for another but there is obligation to do that.
You should check the expiry date on food products. Generally food products cannot be returned to the shop.
