Medicines are divided into prescription and non-prescription medicines. Both can be bought in any pharmacy. The Estonian State Agency of Medicines holds registers of medicines and pharmacies. There are many pharmacies in Estonia, some of which are open 24 hours a day. A portion of the price of medicines is compensated to people who have health insurance. The compensation rate depends on the diagnosis.
Prescriptions that have been issued in other EU member countries are not valid in Estonia. So in the event that you need to buy any prescription medicines, you need to contact a doctor here.
